The following is a short excerpt from the article, "Reinventing the Human at the Species Level," by Thomas Berry. It is an inspiring view of our relationship as humans with the Earth, including all that is living and nonliving, and has helped me to frame the story we will explore this year...
" ...The governing dream of the twentieth century appears as a kind of ultimate manifestation of that deep inner rage of Western society against its earthly condition. As with the goose that laid the golden egg, so the planet Earth is assaulted in a vain effort to possess not simply the magnificent fruits of the earth, but the power itself whereby these splendors have emerged.
At such a moment, a new revelatory experience is needed, an experience wherein human consciousness awakens to the grandeur and sacred quality of Earth process. This awakening is our human participation in the dream of Earth, the dream that is carried in its integrity not in any of Earth's cultural expressions but in the depths of our genetic coding. Therein Earth functions at a depth beyond our capacity for active thought. We can only be sensitized to what is being revealed to us. Such participation in the dream of Earth we probably have not had since earlier times, but therein lies our hope for the future of ourselves and for the entire Earth community."

About me
I always wanted to be a teacher - from the time I was little teaching my toys or younger sister the things I was learning. My love for gaining new knowledge has not dwindled over the years. In fact, I love learning more than ever and am constantly seeking out new information in books, webinars, free online courses. I believe that learning is not only fun, but knowledge is power. When we understand something - really understand it, not that surface level stuff - we can make more informed decisions, be critical of what information we are being given in the world around us, and even deepen our relationships with others and the environment.
I also really love my kiddos and going on adventures big and small with my family. Iced coffee and chocolate are high on my list of must haves and you will quickly learn that both Disney and Harry Potter are a mainstay in my existence. :)
I am dedicated to helping my students become the best learners they can be, to challenge their thinking and become good analytical thinkers and problem solvers, great communicators (both written & verbally!), and respectful citizens of our interconnected world.
