Homemade Playdough
Ingredients:
5 cups water Coloring (1 tsp for pastel, 3 tbs for vivid color)
2 ½ cups salt Scents - You can use essential oils or baking flavors
3 tablespoons cream of tartar
10 tablespoons vegetable oil
5 cups flour
Instructions:
In a large stew pot, combine water, salt, cream of tartar and food coloring ( optional) and scent (optional). Stir over low heat.
As mixture heats up, stir 10 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Slowly stir in 5 cups of flour.
Keep stirring until mixture starts looking dry and pulls away from the sides of the pot. Remove the pot from heat at this point. Pinch a piece of the dough, if it isn’t too sticky, it is done. If it is sticky, continue stirring over the heat.
Place dough on counter and knead until smooth. It will be very warm.
Store in ziplock bag for up to two weeks.
