The Story of the World (SOTW) by Susan Wise Bauer presents world history through storytelling in a four-volume series. Bauer has selected key characters and events to highlight in each volume rather than trying to provide comprehensive coverage. While these books are written at increasing levels of difficulty, they might be read aloud to younger children and read independently by older.
