Career Pathway:
There are hundreds of related careers in the Human Services Career Cluster, some more similar than others. Classifying these similar careers into narrower categories, called pathways, helps individuals look at a range of options when it comes to employment in an area with similar skills and knowledge. Although this system of classifying careers into clusters and pathways is helpful in navigating career options, it is not the only way. This module is more specifically aligned with the Personal Care Services Career Pathway. Individuals in this pathway share a set of skills and knowledge that expand on the skills and knowledge needed in the Human Services Career Cluster. Individuals in the Personal Care Services Career Pathway demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:
Analyze basic principles of biology, chemistry, and human anatomy for safe and effective utilization and selection of personal care products and services.
Evaluate an individualized personal care plan reflecting client preferences, needs, and interests for a course of treatment/action.
Utilize data and information to maintain electronic records of client services and make recommendations for personal care services.
Demonstrate policies and procedures to achieve a safe and healthy environment for personal care services.
Develop organizational policies, procedures, and regulations establishing personal care organization priorities, accomplishing the mission, and providing high-quality service to diverse clients and families.
Identify personal care business opportunities enhanced by community involvement, self-improvement, and current trends.
Apply methods of obtaining feedback to understand expectations and promote high-quality personal care services standards.
