Floorball
(Previously Floor Hockey)

Starting with the 2025 season, all participating teams will play and follow the rules of floorball.  Special Olympics MA will be hosting a single day state tournament in 2026 for all teams.  All floorball rosters (for both recreational and competitive teams) are due February 18, 2026.  

Skills Clinic on March 28th is cancelled. Competition schedule will remain the same. 

Starting in 2024, Special Olympics MA began the transition from Floor Hockey to Floorball.  The reasons for this transition are for the following reasons:

• The sport is more accessible and simpler to implement

• Equipment more resembles the sport of hockey, less equipment is required in order to play, and equipment is more readily available to purchase and outfit teams

• The current version of sport has no governing body and is being phased out by Special Olympics across the world. The sport is no longer supported or offered on the international stage and chapters across US are now changing over to Floorball
