Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! We’re excited to welcome students back on Wednesday, August 12. Our staff has been hard at work preparing our schools, classrooms and programs for another great year at SPCS.
As we begin the year, there’s a lot happening across the district, from continued progress on our voter-approved Bond 2026 projects to new staff, programs, activities and opportunities for our students and families.
This edition of the SPCS Community Connection includes important back-to-school information and resources to help you start the year, including bus transportation, school meals, calendars, district communications, athletics and activities, safety information, construction updates and more. Throughout the newsletter, you’ll also find links to help you stay connected and informed throughout the school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year and can’t wait to welcome our students back!
Here’s to a great 2026-27 school year!
Ryan Saunders, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Help Us Recognize Outstanding Staff Each Month at SPCS
Every day, Springfield Platteview Community Schools employees go above and beyond to make a positive difference in the lives of our students, families, and one another. We believe those efforts deserve to be recognized and celebrated.
The SPCS Good Vibes Employee of the Month program honors staff members who demonstrate exceptional dedication, kindness, teamwork, and a commitment to making our schools a great place to learn and work.
You can help! Students, parents, staff, and community members are encouraged to nominate an employee who has made a meaningful impact. Share why they deserve to be recognized, and your nomination will remain active for one full year, giving every nominee multiple opportunities to be selected.

Bus routes have been sent to families! If you did not receive an email and believe you should have, please contact the Administration Office at 402-592-1300. Please review your student’s bus color, stop location and pickup/drop-off times before the first day of school. We recommend students arrive at their bus stop 5–10 minutes early, especially during the first few days as routes and timing are established.
Other Questions? Contact First Student at 402-572-6160 or visit our Transportation page for bus safety information and guidelines.
Check out 2026-27 breakfast and lunch prices, view school menus, add funds to your student’s meal account and find information about free and reduced-price meals.
Reminder: Families receiving free or reduced-price meals must submit a new application each school year.
Exciting progress is being made on our Bond 2026 projects! At Platteview High School, eight new classroom villas are taking shape, along with a new north entrance for students and visitors. Work continues to move forward as we prepare these new spaces for our students and staff.
