Number charts help students with a variety of number skills including number identification, before and after numbers, number patterns and skip counting. They can also be used to explore numbers that are one more or less and ten more of less than a given number.

Number charts are usually introduced using the numbers 1 to 100, however as you can see below, number charts can be used for any range of numbers.
Number lines can be used to explore before and after numbers, to support counting, to compare numbers and to show addition and subtraction thinking. For examples of how to use a number line to solve addition and subtraction problems please see the Addition and Subtraction pages.
