About the Band at SPHS 

Concert Band/Performance Band

The concert band meets during the regular school day and performs several times throughout the school year. Students who are also part of the marching band must register for "Performance Band" to receive one additional credit for this course.

Jazz Ensemble

The Jazz Ensemble meets during the regular school day and is a credited ensemble. Like the concert band, the jazz ensemble performs several times yearly and at various community events. 

Marching Band

The Marching Band is the most visible of the ensembles at SPHS. The band can be seen at all varsity football games and the South Plainfield Labor Day Parade. The band competes in TOB group 2a and are the 2017 and 2021 TOB Region Champions, as well as the 2024 TOB NJ State Champions. The Marching Tigers will be competing in group 2 open class starting in the 2025 season.
