The COVID-19 International Student Film Festival (C19ISFF) was a first-of-its-kind, one-of-a-kind film event that enabled students to creatively document their inner and outer experiences during this extraordinary time in our world's history.

It included film submissions from 76 secondary schools in 30 countries (and 11 states) on 6 continents. Films were generally shot within the comfort of students’ home residences and provided viewers direct insight into their take of the global COVID-19 crisis.

As a history teacher, C19ISFF Director Doug Hart, described his students' films as "time-capsules to the next generation, primary sources for future historians, and critical youth cultural contributions to big history in the making".

The initial Spring 2020 Online COVID-19 International Student Film Festival was a quickly put-together, unfunded effort, hosted by Sparta Public Schools. It was a true labour of love. High School Teacher Doug Hart directed the festival with the heavy lifting assistance of his associate Linda Vanlaan (former in't school director in Qatar). The technical online pieces were problem-solved and developed by High School Computer Teacher Paul Owens and one of his star students. The festival started in April and ended in May. Much happened in a very short period of time.

The COVID-19 World Student Film Festival remains a volunteer global grassroots collaboration between schools, teachers, and students. Director Hart continues to serve as the network's facilitator and may be contacted directly at doug.hart@spartaschools.org.
