Hello! My name is Mrs. Morgan Bleakley and I am the STEP teacher at the Mohawk Avenue School (3rd grade) and the Helen Morgan School (4th and 5th grade). I also teach third and fourth grade Computer Science.
I have been teaching in the Sparta Township School District since 1999, first as a fourth grade teacher, then fifth grade teacher (math & science) and finally the teacher of Gifted & Talented. I have a Masters in the Art of Teaching and have attended UCONN's Gifted and Talented Confratute hosted by the Renzulli Center for Creativity, Gifted Education, and Talent Development. In both 2001 and 2010 I was the grateful recipient of the Governor's Teacher Award for Alpine School and Helen Morgan School respectively. I am on the Board of Directors for the DreamGirls Initiative, a nonprofit organization committed to inspiring young women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Helping students reach their potential and watching them grow brings me immense joy. I am incredibly lucky to do what I love, everyday.
I live in Sparta with my husband & three children who all attended Sparta schools. My two daughters continued their education at Clemson University and my son is studying Criminal Justice at the University of Rhode Island as an ROTC cadet. When I am not reading or hiking, you can usually find me by the pool or by the ocean. I love to laugh and listen to all kinds of live music. Lastly, I am a proud Potterhead. Keep an eye out for my after school Explorations class - Harry Potterpalooza!
Oh, and pineapples. I really love pineapples. Pineapples are really, really tasty.
