My name is Kristine Simmons and I am pleased to be a part of Sparta Township Public Schools' Special Services Department as a speech-language therapist. I am currently in both Sparta Middle School and Sparta High School, providing speech and language services to our students ages 11-21.
After graduating from Ithaca College with my Bachelor's of Science in Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped and Master's of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (go, Bombers!), I began my career working with Deaf and hard of hearing students at a specialized school for the Deaf in Morris county, serving students in the Early Intervention program through middle school. I am fluent in American Sign Language, and have continued to work with the Deaf and hard of hearing throughout my 28 year career in various capacities, most recently as a specialized evaluator across the state of New Jersey with a private team for approximately 16 years. I was also a member of the Sparta Township Public Schools in the early - 2000s on a three-person literacy team at the elementary school level, owned my own private practice in Sussex County, and taught American Sign Language at Sussex County Community College for several years. I am happy to be a part of the Sparta schools and the amazing team of speech-language therapists here in our district.
