Each unit of coursework this year will focus on identity.
English 9 Honors is a survey style course which covers a variety of texts including fiction novels, drama, short stories, nonfiction, and verse writing from Shakespeare to contemporary work. Students will explore and create narrative, expository, and argumentative pieces of writing throughout the course, as well as conduct research to support analysis and argument. The English 9 (H) class serves as an introduction to the reading and writing requirements for high school, as well as the demands and expectations of honors level courses. Through reading, writing, research, and discussion, students will practice skills to prepare for future English classes, as well as their life and career beyond their years at Sparta High School.

- For the beginning of school: having a copy of your summer reading text is helpful for your first writing assignment
