Grade 6
Together, we will read many short texts provided by the Schoolwide curriculum. In addition, we will read various articles, short stories, and independent reading selections.
Grade 7
Together, we will read and analyze The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton with the potential to read other texts such as And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie, Empty by Susan Burton, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, Chasing Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen, and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. In addition, we will read various articles, poems, short stories, and independent reading selections.
Grade 8
Together, we will read and analyze The Giver by Lois Lowry, Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, Animal Farm by George Orwell, A Midsummer's Nights Dream by William Shakespeare, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, and The Play of The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. In addition, we will read various articles, poems, short stories, and independent reading selections.
