Code.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding participation in computer science by making it available in more schools, and increasing participation by women and all underrepresented students. Their goal is to provide every student in every school the opportunity to learn computer science, working towards making it a part of the core curriculum in education, alongside other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses. Scratch helps students learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Scratch also has plenty of creative ideas and information for parents and teachers.
Teaching Kids Programming (TKP) is a nonprofit dedicated to helping kids begin to code. TKP uses an open-source platform, so there are no costs involved; the site focuses on getting started with Java as a parent, teacher, or student. The courseware contains nine units complete with lesson plans and interactive exercises to learn and practice Java at your own pace.
