Hi! I'm Miss F and I am so excited for a wonderful school year! I am particularly excited to help my students find and develop a love for reading that they didn't even know they had!
MSR is a multi-sensory approach to learning reading and writing techniques & concepts. Have you ever noticed that you sometimes remember phone numbers by pretending to dial it? Or that a certain smell may trigger a memory? When our senses work together, our brain is able to connect concepts and ideas to memory better. That is the goal of MSR - by employing multiple senses, our brain better retains information such as morphemes, spelling rules, and vocabulary.
In our MSR sessions we will identify and practice specific gaps in knowledge and understanding of phonemes, encoding and decoding skills, vocabulary skills, reading fluency and basic reading skills. We will employ a variety of approaches as we work through spelling rules and patterns, concepts, morphology, etc.
In MSR we use The Wilson System of Reading as a guide for lessons, instruction, scope & sequence.
