Hello Families of Mrs. Loop's class,
WOW- FIRST GRADE! It is exciting AND different from Kindergarten...
I love first grade!!
To have a successful experience in first grade, here are some important tips: Kids need lots of encouragement to use their time to focus and listen to/follow directions so that they stay up with the rest of the class. Homework requires encouragement and guidance at home and is intended to help kids build a great foundation to their learning and work ethic right from day one. First graders are learning how to become students.
Attending to daily procedures and all of the school rules is important to do throughout the year. Rewards and consequences both at school and home have proven effective to help students mature with their growing responsibilities and independence. Families can motivate their child to practice good school behavior. It is important for each student to be able to focus, hear instruction, and be respectful of others and that is why our behavior management system is in place.
For questions or concerns, I am just a phone call or Seesaw message away.
My main goals are to:
1) have each student WANT to return every day and
2) continue to communicate with families regarding each child's academic and social/behavioral growth. (I would rather over-communicate and remind families rather than miss something.)
I look forward to an awesome school year!
