Mrs. seay's Honors CLasses

Geometry Honors

The fundamental purpose of Honors Geometry is to formalize and extend students’ geometric experiences from earlier grades. Students explore more complex geometric situations and deepen their explanations of geometric relationships, moving towards formal mathematical arguments.

The Standards for Mathematical Practice apply throughout the course and, together with the content standards, prescribe that students experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject that makes use of their ability to make sense of problem situations. The content will include, but not be limited to, the following topics, based on the course standards:

  • Circles With and Without Coordinates

  • Congruence, Proof, and Construction

  • Geometric Measurement and Dimension

  • Expressing Geometric Properties with Equations

  • Modeling with Geometry

  • Similarity, Right Triangles, and Trigonometry
