Library Information

Mission: The mission of the New Prospect school library media program is provide a quality, student-centered education by ensuring that students and staff are effective users and creators of ideas and information. The school library program empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users and producers of information.

Library Media Center Hours: 7:20 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during school days.

Checkout Guidelines: K4 - K5 students may check out one book at a time during their weekly library visit. 1st-2nd graders may check out two books, and 3rd-6th graders may check out three books at a time. If students have reached their limits, they may not check out another book until a book is returned. Books can be renewed if they are not on hold for other students. Teachers and parents may check out as many books as needed.

Policies: Students may visit the library between 7:20am and 7:45am with teacher permission and after school with a parent or teacher. During school hours, students must have permission from their teacher to visit the library. If Mrs. Tyner is teaching a class in the library, visiting students should remain quiet.

About Us

Jill Tyner

Library Media Specialist

I am so excited to be working at New Prospect for my fourth year! I currently live in Greenville, which is my home town. After graduating from Wade Hampton High School, I attended the University of South Carolina where I earned a B.A. in Psychology from the South Carolina Honors College. I also hold a M.Ed. in Community Counseling from the University of Georgia, a M.S. in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University, and a Specialist in Library and Information Sciences degree from the University of South Carolina. I am a member of the American Library Association (ALA), the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), and the South Carolina Association of School Librarians. I love working with children and am passionate about helping them develop a love of reading. I am married to my husband of 17 years, and we have two wonderful children.

  • My favorite word is credenza. My least favorite word is moist.
  • I am obsessed with all things Disney, Harry Potter, and llamas!
