Student Services

How are these standards taught to your student?

Classroom Guidance- Your student will visit my classroom biweekly with their class for group guidance lessons. I partner with you to teach your student life skills such as Responsibility, Respect, Honesty, and Friendship. I also help students with conflict resolution especially when it may be affecting relationships with peers. Students are taught the difference between tattling and telling.

Small Groups - Your student may be invited to participate in a small group. This is a time for more targeted teaching and interaction with a small group of students who may be struggling with the same skill or life circumstance. Small group topics include grief, divorce/family separation, impulsive behavior, organizational skills, friendship skills, conflict resolution, self-confidence and motivation. You or the teacher can make a referral for small groups, but I will also send a permission letter home to inform you. Small groups are held during the student's lunch time and are an excellent opportunity for student interaction and growth.

Individual Counseling- Your student may have more individualized counseling needs which require some short term Solution-Focused counseling intervention. I will be glad to talk with you about what can be offered through the school based program. Teacher and parent referrals for individual counseling will be accepted anytime. If the student's individual needs are more long term or require intensive counseling, referrals can be made to our School Based Mental Health Counselor or other community counselors. As always the purpose of the services is to help our children achieve their academic goals.
