Below are details regarding the dedicated community members and organizations who worked tirelessly and contributed to bring this structure to life!
Michele Marotta, Associate Executive Director of SPARK Kindness, coordinated this project from the initial inspiration to the final construction and installation. (She is pictured here, left, with her daughter, Lilly).
Though Dan is a pyschologist by training, he loves building projects - and woodworking! Dan was instrumental in constructing and implementing the Natick LFDL design. We are so grateful for the many hours he spent in his workshop bringing the Natick LFDL structure to life!
Special handling required! Thanks to Tom Daly, Steve Robinson (pictured with Michele Marotta, SPARK's Associate ED), and a crew of helpers, the library was carefully moved from Dan's workshop in Framingham to a temporary holding space at the Cole Center, before being installed safely this spring (March 2023) in a freshly poured concrete pad by the amazing crews from Superior Construction and Natick DPW! (See below.)
Special thanks also to Rick Holihan, generous neighbor and talented carpenter, who contributed the important finishing elements to the projects. Namely, he designed water proof doors to keep our precious books safe! And additional thanks to Rick's wife, Jeanne Holihan, for helping to finish seal the structure for an added layer of love - and protection from the elements!
Thank you to Art Goodhind, Supervisor & Tree Warden, Division of Land Facilities and Natural Resources, and his crew at the Natick Department of Public Works, along with Superior Construction, for pouring the concrete pad that holds the Natick LFDL in place - and securly placing the structure at the Connor Heffler Park for SPARK!
Special thanks to the Natick Parks & Recreation Department, the Natick Parks & Recreation Commission and the Town of Natick who welcomed this project, and who made it possible to install this Little Free Diverse library at the Connor Heffler Park for kids and families to enjoy now, and for years to come!
