Dr. Arkopal K. Goswami is currently an Associate Professor in the Ranbir and Chitra Gupta School of Infrastructure Design and Management (RCGSIDM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. Additionally, he is also serving as the Associate Dean, International Relations, IIT Kharagpur. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia, USA, and has extensive experience of over 20+ years across academia and industrial advisory roles. Key areas of his research include sustainable urban transportation planning, multimodal mobility, travel behavior analysis, and transit-oriented development (TOD).

Dr. Goswami has led and collaborated on several national and international projects, including TUTEM (ADB funded), SAFAR (AI-driven road safety), and the SPARC-funded Integrated Land Use–Transport–Emissions Modelling project. With over 100 research publications, he has contributed significantly to transport research, policy, teaching, and capacity building. He is a member of the IRC Technical Committee on Urban Roads, expert advisor to the Ola Mobility Institute, and was a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), USA.

Being a recipient of the IIT Kharagpur Faculty Excellence Award (2022) and Erasmus Fellowship at TU Munich (2024), he continues to advance sustainable and efficient urban mobility through research and global academic collaborations.
