A qualified architect and urban planner, her doctoral research in the domain of LUTP ‘Relation of Land use and Travel Behaviour’. Dr. Kshama Puntambekar have been teaching in the field of planning since the year 2000 in different institutions. She has been teaching courses in Urban and Regional Planning, Geospatial and Big data Analysis, Land Use and Transport Planning, IKS in Town Planning, etc., at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal, since 2009.

Over time she has successfully guided four PhD thesis, more than 25 UG and 25 PG thesis in the planning domain and coordinated 20 studio exercises to prepare Local, Urban and Regional Plans for different semesters of bachelor and Master of Planning programmes. She has been invited as a jury member by many institutions on different occasions for evaluation of UG, PG and PhD work.

She has been actively participating in research and consultancy work in the domain of urban and regional planning. To name a few are – Preparation of - Global Studio on “Local Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plan” in collaboration with (UNU-IAS), Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability and MP State Biodiversity Board Sponsored by NBA. Her recent work is in Indian Knowledge System in Town Planning. She has co-authored books – ‘Reinterpreting Urban Fabric in Cities with Living Heritage: A case of Kolkata’ and ‘Low Carbon Society, Bhopal -2035.’
