Mrs. Perry's Choral Classroom

Kyla Perry is a 6th through 12th Grade Vocal Music Teacher at South Seneca Middle High School in Ovid, New York.  She studied Piano and Voice for her Bachelor's degree at Houghton College in Houghton, New York, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.  Mrs. Perry studied Voice and Choral / General Music Education for her Master's degree at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia.  As a performer, Mrs. Perry toured the Mid-Atlantic States and Spain, France, and Italy with the Houghton College Choir.  She sang a season with the Rochester Oratorio Society.  Mrs. Perry has also presented recitals in Pultneyville, New York and Willard, New York.  She performed in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Music Man with the Between the Lakes Community Players.  Mrs. Perry won a TANYS award for Excellence in Vocal Performance for her portrayal of Marian the Librarian in The Music Man.

At South Seneca Middle High School, Mrs. Perry teaches 6th Grade Chorus, 7th and 8th Grade Chorus, and High School Chorus.  She also teaches the Award Winning Vocal Jazz ensemble that performs each year at Music Fest at Darien Lake, where they took 1st Place in Show Choir in 2018, 2017, and 2015..  Middle School Swing Chorus is a select ensemble, as well as Vocal Jazz. Mrs. Perry won a TANYS award for Excellence in Vocal Direction for the South Seneca Falcon Player's musical, Guys and Dolls.  She has taught Vocal Music since 2011.
