Maintaining a Daily Schedule

Children thrive on routine. Try to keep their regular morning and bedtime routines, sitting down for lunch at the same time they do at school, and write out a daily schedule (like the sample ).

Keeping things consistent can help children feel calm and make an unsettling situation more predictable. Home is typically a place to relax and have fun, but scheduling recess or play/downtime may help kids to feel like there is more of a routine. Limit screen time (even educational screen time) throughout the day.
