Welcome to second grade! One of my favorite parts of being a teacher is getting to know my students and learning about their interests. I would also like to share some information about me. I graduated from Poland in 2002 and attended YSU. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2006. I also completed my Master’s program at YSU. I have my masters degree as a Reading Specialist grades K-12. This is my 19th year at South Range. I began my teaching career as a Response To Intervention teacher for Kindergarten and 1st grade. I was also a Title 1 teacher for grades k-4. I then landed my dream job as a 2nd grade teacher. This is my 12th year teaching second grade.
My goal this year is the establish a positive classroom environment and become a "classroom family." Your support and cooperation is much appreciated. Let's work together to make this a great year!
Class DoJo: This will be my main form of communication. A letter will be sent home on the first day of school with directions on how to connect with me. If you used ClassDoJo with last year's teacher then you should already be connected. I will also be posting general announcements and pictures in ClassDoJo. This is the safest way to post pictures of the class, as the only people that can view these pictures are parents of students in our classroom.

Behavior Chart
We use a clip system for the behavior chart. The students have an opportunity to move their clip up for positive behavior or move their clip down for wrong choices that they have made. They begin the day on green.
Pink- Outstanding
Purple- Great Choices
Blue- Good Choices
Green- Ready to Learn
Yellow- Warning
Orange- Consequence (stay in for recess)
Red- Contact home and sent to the principal
If the student moved their clip down throughout the day because of a behavior issue (regardless if they move back up) a "Think Sheet" will be sent home. This is a letter that the child will write to you stating what they did and what they will do better next time. These will need to be signed and returned the following school day.
These are Our Classroom Rules:
Be honest and responsible
Listen and follow directions
Raise your hand to speak
Treat others with respect
Keep your area clean
Work hard and play safely
Be brave and try new things
Learn from your mistakes
Make thoughtful decisions
Do your best
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
My goal this year is to establish a positive classroom atmosphere and your cooperation means so much. During the first few weeks we will be discussing and modeling classroom rules and establishing classroom routines. This year there will be a focus on social emotional learning alongside our academic learning. This will help the students to recognize emotions and develop social skills so that they can express themselves effectively and therefore work productively.
