I believe that all middle school students are capable of individual growth and academic success when they feel safe at school. I am committed to advocating for all student related to disability, culture, language, or socioeconomic status and will advocate for the proper educational setting for students. I strive to promote a school climate that celebrates diversity, encourages empathy, and inclusion for every student.
My philosophy includes being able to provide students with what they need academically, meet their social emotional needs, as well as preparing them for their career interests. Being able to provide students opportunities to explore career based activites, work through issues with peers through group counseling and examining ways to improve academics are all key components of the counseling office.
I also believe students feel supported when families, school based support staff, administrators and counselors are all a part of a students progress. When there is communication and support, students feel safe and confident. My goal as a middle school counselor is to empower students to understand themselves, believe in their abilities, and develop the skills needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
