READING COUNTS:

Reading Counts will be done per quarter. Even though this week is the last week of the first 9 weeks, for Reading Counts purposes we are considering it the second 9 weeks. This year for Reading Counts each student will be REQUIRED to have 25 points per quarter (beginning 2nd quarter). I will be taking this for a grade at the end of each 9 weeks and will be doubling the points, so if you achieve the 25/25 points that are required, then you will receive a 50/50 in my gradebook. If you choose to read more than the required 25 points, you can earn bonus points! For every 5 points you read above the 25 required points, you will earn 1 bonus point. For example, if you have 30 points in Reading Counts, you will receive 50/50 as well as 1 bonus point. If you have 35 points in Reading Counts, you will receive the 50/50 as well as 2 bonus points and so on. The most amount of bonus points above what is required that you can have is 10 bonus points. If you read beyond that, then you are going for the highest reader. The student at the end of each quarter with the most amount of points in Reading Counts will win a reward!! At the end of the year, the student with the highest cumulative points will earn the Reading Counts Award on Award Day!
