Welcome to 6th Grade Earth Science! Please read the expectations that I have outlined below carefully to help us all have a rewarding and successful school year.
RESPECT: This is the guiding principle in this class Respect for everyone is expected of each of you. No form of disrespect will be tolerated. You are also expected to be an active learner. This means taking notes, asking questions, and participating in classroom activities to the best of your ability.
MATERIALS: You must have your science journal, a two pocket folder, a pencil, and any current assignments with you in class.
HOMEWORK: Homework is assigned for the purpose of practice. You can expect to have science homework most nights. The homework assignments will be posted on the board daily and can also be found on the Homework Hotline (628-3260, ext.13403). Homework will be checked at the beginning of class and although there will never be a specific grade associated with homework it will be logged in PowerSchool. If an assignment is not ready at the start of class, you will be expected to make it up. If you don’t complete your homework, then you are not getting the required practice needed to excel in science. Please be diligent and work on homework whenever it is assigned.
ABSENCES: If you are absent from class, you are expected to check the homework hotline and complete missed assignments. You must also check with your teachers in order to make arrangements to make up work missed during class time. If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test, you will be expected to take the quiz or test the day you return to school.
COMMUNICATION: Please feel free to contact me at trock@southingtonschools.org or call and leave a message with the main office. I will respond as quickly as possible.
