Grade 8

WELCOME TO GRADE 8 AIR TRANSPORTATION

In 8th grade transportation, students study the range of methods used to move people, ideas,& goods from place to place by way of air. The course allows students to gain an appreciation and understanding for problem solving, COLLABORATION, COMMUNICATION, CREATIVITY, critical thinking, the design and fabrication processes used in real world situations.

Projects & Activities

-Class Contract Signing (Students collectively review the rules and expectations they need to be successful)

-Measuring using the 1/16" scale (Review)

-"Hot Air Balloon" (Students learn the components and operation of a hot air balloon. They are to fabricate a balloon for testing and evaluation using tissue paper.)

-"Bottle Rocket" (Students learn the components and operation of a rocket. They are to fabricate a bottle rocket for testing and evaluation using a one liter bottle and other materials.)

-"Airport Transportation INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN" (Students create a transportation model of an airport using limited space and funds.)
