Math Connections

Welcome to Math Connections with Mrs Duffy!

This course is designed to assist you with past math skills and to build on those skills as you master new mathematical concepts and acquire new strategies. We will work on supporting your work in your math classroom and use Accelerated Math ( a computer-based program) to practice grade-level material. We will work one-on-one, in small groups, and with our peers to learn and apply new content. Please come to class prepared and ready to learn!

What do I need to bring to class?

• Math Binder and student books from your math class ( I have textbooks)
• Pencil and Eraser
• Calculator
• Your best attitude
• Smile

I’m not a math person. When will I ever use this?

If you have ever said those words, I am here to change that! Math IS part of your everyday life in ways that you may not even realize yet. This is something we will explore throughout the year. We will be making CONNECTIONS to everyday life in everything we do. Learning math skills teaches us to think critically, plan ahead, discover patterns, apply prior knowledge, explain our thinking and persevere. I promise you that math is important and a valuable part of life. I hope to make it engaging and challenging with some fun mixed in!
