Daily
Complete work as assigned and on a timely basis
Homework
Make-up work is due after an absence and should be made up as quickly as possible. In general, work should be made up within the same amount of time as you were absent (for example, a two-school day absence means you will have two school days to complete and submit make-up work). As always, individual circumstances will be taken into account. It is your responsibility to check the homework hotline and go to your homework buddy for needed assignments, notes, etc.
Extra Help If you are having difficulty with math, please do not wait. Extra help is available—please talk to your teacher about options for extra help.
Participation You are an important member of our class and should participate actively. We learn better when we learn from our peers. Your "Group Role" will be an important responsibility to our whole class learning!
Bring a positive attitude to class
Demonstrate Patriot Pride by following school, team, and class expectations.
Be prepared for class (Chromebook should be charged, pencil, eraser, paper, earbuds, correcting tool, highlighter, power cord, etc.)
Keep extra supplies in your locker all year!
Write homework and necessary information in an assignment book (Check daily HW here)
There will be homework, on average, 4 days a week, and it is checked regularly.
Grading Guidelines:
Math progress and understanding is evaluated through a variety of assessments. You earn your grade as demonstrated by your work performance (classwork/homework, tests/quizzes).
Homework: (0%)
Classwork/Graded work: Possible 100 points each (20%)
Quiz: Possible 100 points each (35%)
Test: Possible 100 points each (45%)
Grades are posted on Power School and accessed through the parent portal of Power School. Some assignments will be graded with scoring details given. Late assignments will be accepted with a possible point or grade reduction based on circumstance.
Reteach Opportunity:
Both schools have adopted a “Re-Teach not Retake” model meaning any student earning below a 70 on tests and quizzes may come back for re-teaching of material/extra help through means arranged with a teacher and earn back a grade of 70. The teacher decides if learning has occurred through an informal assessment (exit slips, oral interview, problems on a board, short writes, etc.). To qualify for this, the following criteria must be met
The student completed ALL the homework assignments in the particular unit of study.
The student must amend the failed assessment by correcting all errors (or at least attempting to) to verify a better understanding.
When a re-teach opportunity is triggered, the teacher shall make contact with a parent via a note on a test, email, phone conversation, etc. notifying them of the opportunity for their child.
