Low-Tech, High-Impact steam activities

Course Overview

If you are looking for low-tech, high-impact STEAM activities to use with your elementary students, this is the session for you! Join us for a day of Making as participants take part in a variety of building and design challenges appropriate for a variety of subject areas. You will learn how to introduce elementary classrooms to the Engineering Design Process as you use circuitry to create interactive Math games and stories, create your own cardboard arcade, and more! All projects will use recycled materials or items commonly found at the Dollar store.

LOW-TECH STEAM IGNITE TALK

This talk will features easy-to-implement STEAM activities that students can do both at home, and at school. Using low-tech, accessible materials, learn how to help students explore both simple and more complex science and engineering concepts as they work their way through different challenges. Using the Engineering Design Process as a framework for introducing various STEAM activities to elementary students, learn how educators across Western Pennsylvania are engaging their students in STEAM learning one Design Challenge at a time!
