Starting with the students, I do my best to learn something about each person's passions and skills at the beginning of the year and throughout the year on playground duty or before school.
For my parents, I make myself accessible by texting them my contact details and contacting them when applicable. I try to balance positive and negative comments here but my plan is that there should be no surprises at report time. I feel this has paid dividends in my relationships as I had 100% parent attendance during our mid-year parent-teacher conference.
At school, I am part of the PE Sit team and responsible for designing our PE programme for years 5 & 6 as well as our year 5 science. I have been observed by my supervisor and my team leader and actioned feedback provided by them. I also work together with the other teachers in my hub with RTLB (resource teachers of learning and behaviour) and DMIC (developing mathematical inquiry communities) mentors to develop our skills in these areas. My next steps are to make focused observations of teachers and use them to inform my development.
