Southeastern Academy
Welcomes
Natalie Bergstresser
as our School Counselor!
We at Southeastern Academy want your child to be successful at school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, children also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, manage strong emotions, and get along with others.
Second Step is a research based social emotional learning program used during guidance here at SeA. It is designed to improve children's social emotional skills. Second Step's skills and concepts are designed to help children both in and out of school. More information about the program and lessons will be updated weekly under the Newsletter Tab.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
My goal is to establish a therapeutic relationship with each child while striving to be honest and maintain professionalism at all times.
Confidentiality Statement
We are committed to professional relationships with students, and will maintain confidentiality about what occurs if you would like for us to speak to your child individually. We will not pull your child out of their classroom without parental consent. Circumstances when confidentiality cannot be maintained include: if a student threatens to harm themselves or others; if we suspect child or elder abuse/neglect; if a parent signs a release of information; if a court orders a release of records (a subpoena is not a court order); or during professional consultation with other counselors. As we are working with children, we encourage and request open communication with parents, but we ask parents to respect the counseling process and preserve the confidentiality of the session details. Working in a school setting, we frequently consult and collaborate with other teachers and professionals in order to help the student be successful; however, we still strive to protect the confidentiality of counseling sessions.
