Challenge #12

https://www.easypeasyandfun.com/how-to-draw/

We have some incredible artists in Com 6! See if you can follow the steps to draw something from this great website. I would love to see the end result!

High Frequency Words

Challenge #11

If you click on the sight words, it will open up to be all of our lists of words. Have someone in your family time you, and see how many of them you can read. Later on today, or tomorrow, try again and see if you can get even faster at reading these words!

Challenge #10

A fun one for you to try with your family!

Challenge #9

We have been working hard on adding and subtracting numbers in class. Some of us are using counters, cars, dinosaurs or any objects to make two groups to add together and then practice subtracting. Others are practicing working this out with larger numbers in their head.

See if you can practice adding or subtracting 5 times today!

Challenge #8

What would you do? Write a story about what could happen? I would love to see them!

Challenge #7

Physical Activity Hunt. Try and give this a go with your family and see how you get on!

Challenge #6

If you were a superhero, what would you power be? Either draw a picture, or write a story to give me as much detail about your superpower. What can you do? How does it work? What is your superhero name? Are you a goodie or a baddie?

Challenge #5

Your challenge today is to begin practicing tying your shoe laces (if you don't know how to). This video gives you one way, but someone in your family may know better ways.

Challenge #4

While we are home with our families, this is a perfect opportunity to learn our phone number.

This is really important for us to know, off by heart, in case of an emergency. Some families prefer to teach a parents cellphone number and that way the number is always accessible whether you are at home or out and about.

Challenge #3

Create your own animal picture in your house and write a crazy story to match!

I'm sure a lot of your parents already knew how to do this - but this is something I have learnt to do during lockdown.

This has to be done on a cellphone, so you will need a parent to help you with this activity.

If you type in a certain animal to google, and scroll down it will say 'see in 3D'. If you move the camera around slowly, the animal will pop up in your house and you can make it bigger and smaller. Maggie and Millie weren't too sure about the new students we had join our class today.

Challenge #2

Brighten up your street! One thing that a lot of us are doing at the moment, is being able to go for walks around where we live. Is there something you could do to brighten up your street? Could you make a pretty picture to stick in your window for people to see? Could you write something with chalk on the footpath? Have a talk with your family and see what you could do (:

Challenge #1

Make someone in your family laugh. What could you do to make them laugh? Do you know a REALLY funny joke that you could tell? Could you do a performance for your family and pretend to be a comedian? Could you put on your best Mum, Dad or Gran voice and say some of the things they like to say to you? Could you do a trick like a magic show? Get that brain thinking and give it a go!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing well, and that spirits are still high in your households. I know that this is an extremely challenging time for everyone at the moment, and this lockdown will be effecting everyone very differently. Please know that I am thinking of you all, and if there is anything I can do to help just let me know.

I know there is a lot of uncertainty around home learning, and what that looks like for children of different ages. Home learning shouldn't be something that is from 9am - 3pm. I am well aware of how many of you will be trying to juggle working from home, looking after younger siblings, the 'joy' of having all of your children home and house bound. My aim is to support you the best I can, in work that is achievable for your family. If your child is desperate to work on their basic facts, thats great! If your child wants to build a fort with blankets in the lounge, and play princesses and dragons all day, then thats great too. At the end of all of this, our children aren't going to remember what they learnt - but the memories they made with their family, and how they felt during this very uncertain time.

At the moment, it is currently 'school holidays' - however the Tuesday after Easter is when Term 2 starts for Southbridge and that is when our distance learning programme begins. However, if you are doing some of the activities now - then good on you! I will continue to be available to you throughout this whole time - so I am only ever an email or seesaw message away (:

I thought it would be best to create a classroom site - this will be our main hub where I will continue to post activities and ideas for you. Please bare with me, as I have never created a site before. But I guess we are all learning at the moment. You will find the tabs for all of the different learning areas at the top of the screen. I will continue to put up new ideas and activities for you over the coming weeks.

For now, look after yourselves and your loved ones and I hope to see you all soon!

Kia kaha,

Ashleigh

Home Learning

Here is a link to my first lot of home learning that I sent home at the beginning of our lockdown period. You are still welcome to work away on these activities! There are:

  • 18 different fun activities to complete as a family

  • the different coloured high frequency word lists

  • an overview of the different curriculum areas or general ideas for you to look at (some may be covered again on our classroom site)
