This year marks the 20th year that the Kiwanis Club of South Bend has participated in the nationwide Dictionary Project! The mission of the Dictionary Project is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade.
Our club's participation in the Dictionary Project was generously endowed by long-time South Bend Kiwanis Member Dr. Elmer Graber and his wife Fern.
Our club distributes dictionaries each year to the 3rd grade students in each of the South Bend Community School Corporation elementary schools.
Please consider a tax-deductible donation to our organization to support our continued participation in the Dictionary Project. Your support for youth in our community is greatly appreciated!
