When our founder, Christine, saved a pair of female pet mice from an undesirable living situation in 1996, little did she know that it would be the start of something even more significant. And when her 7th-grade teacher introduced her to the world of domestic rats, it changed her life forever.

Established in 2019, South Bay Rodent Rescue Inc. provides small animal rescue and adoption services to Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties.

Our mission is to rescue and rehome rats, mice, hamsters, and other small mammals. We provide a clean and safe environment for these animals until they are adopted to their forever homes. If they are not adoptable, they remain in sanctuary status to live the rest of their lives comfortably in a place where they will be loved.Â

We also strive to educate pet owners and non-pet owners alike on the proper care of these animals as well as promote a positive image of domestic rodents as ideal pets and amazing creatures. In addition to rescuing and adopting them out, we also appear in off-site events to share our love of these critters!
