Pi Mu Epsilon (PME) is a national honor society dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and recognition of students who successfully pursue mathematical understanding.
The University of South Alabama is home to PME's "Alabama Delta" chapter of the society. Our chapter has a particular focus on engagement in mathematics outside the classroom.

Alabama Delta By-Laws
Meetings of the Alabama Delta Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon shall be called by the Chapter Advisor or President as needed to conduct the business of the Chapter.
The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern all meetings of the chapter.
The chapter’s Permanent Faculty Contact will also serve as chapter Secretary. The chair of the South Alabama Department of Mathematics and Statistics’ Student Affairs Committee will serve as both Chapter Advisor and Treasurer; if this person is not a member of the chapter, then the Permanent Faculty Contact will select another eligible faculty member. These two officers will appoint the President and Vice President of the chapter each year based upon applications from student members of the chapter.
The Chapter Advisor and Permanent Faculty Contact for the chapter, along with any inducted members of Pi Mu Epsilon serving on the departmental Student Affairs Committee, will serve as the Chapter Scholarship Committee per Article VI, Section 4 of the Pi Mu Epsilon Constitution.
The Chapter Scholarship Committee shall accept and evaluate need based fee waivers for the dues of new members.
Students who meet the minimum requirements for induction to Pi Mu Epsilon according to the PME Constitution may be considered for induction into the Alabama Delta chapter of PME, with a preference for students who can show evidence of engagement in mathematics outside of the formal classroom.
Faculty who meet the minimum requirements for induction to Pi Mu Epsilon according to the PME Constitution may be considered for induction into the Alabama Delta chapter of PME, with a preference for faculty who can show evidence of commitment to student mentorship.
The Chapter Advisor and Permanent Faculty Contact for the chapter will be responsible for setting and collecting the Chapter Initiation Fee each year.
If for any reason the chapter leaves active status, all assets remaining after all financial obligations have been met shall be donated to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of South Alabama.
