Unspoken Struggles of Adolescence: Bridging the Communication Gap

Adolescence, a phase of rapid physical, emotional, and social changes, is a pivotal period in a person's life. Amid the whirlwind of transformation, a significant challenge emerges: the divide between the problems faced by adolescents that often go unheard by parents and untold by students themselves. This communication gap is complex and stems from a variety of factors, ultimately affecting the well-being of young individuals.

1. Lack of Understanding: Parents might struggle to grasp the intensity of their child's emotional and psychological changes. Adolescents might hesitate to express their feelings, fearing misunderstandings or dismissal of their concerns.

2. Fear of Judgment: Adolescents often grapple with fear of being judged by their parents for their thoughts, choices, or emotions. This apprehension can prevent them from opening up about their struggles, leading to a lack of support during challenging times.

3. Societal Pressures: The pressure to conform to societal expectations can amplify the communication gap. Adolescents might not confide in their parents about academic stress, peer pressure, body image issues, or mental health struggles due to the belief that these topics might be met with disappointment or a lack of understanding.

4. Peer Influence: Adolescents often prioritize their friends' opinions over their parents', especially when discussing sensitive matters. The need to fit in and avoid being perceived as different can lead to secrecy about issues they are dealing with.

5. Technology and Digital World: The rise of technology and social media has introduced a new dimension to adolescent struggles.

6. Generation Gap: Rapid changes in society, technology, and culture can create a generation gap between parents and adolescents. This gap can lead to misunderstandings and difficulty in discussing sensitive topics.

To bridge this communication gap and provide adolescents with the support they need, several steps can be taken…..

I would be excited to bring you the continuation of this important information in the upcoming edition of our newspaper. Get ready to dive deeper into the details and stay informed. Don't miss out on what's to come!"

EMOTIONS IN GLASS (SECONDARY STAGE)

You flex how you haven't cried for so long.

Firstly, I don't understand what kind of achievement it is

And how bottling up your emotions can ever make you happy.

Second, I wonder if you're lying,

What if your true self shows up in darkness

When you are crying, wanting to be held warmly.

I wonder how tight your heart must feel,

just because your mind is not good at expressing,

I wonder how suffocating it would be when the world gets too heavy,

And I wonder if you ever feel like emptying the grief.

Just know if you ever do, I am always here for you

And even if you don't I am fluent in silence and you're not alone.
