If you're interested in presenting at next year's conference email pecon@sou.edu or nihipalis@sou.edu.
Consider the following questions when forming your session: What does culture look like, what does it mean? How do communities move towards building up their cultures and educating others at the same time? How can your presentation incorporate this year’s theme?
The Pacific Islander Indigeneity and Education Conference creates space for cultural and in-generational diversity. This conference creates a dynamic and impactful dialogue between Indigenous Pacific Islander community members and allies. Through sharing historical events, environment and policy, sharing research, and reiterate challenges and accomplishments they may have witnessed as community members. The PIIEC values a community of care and works to provide a safe space for participants to learn, ask questions, and engage in these conversations. Lastly, we look forward to developing positive, sustainable change in our community by educating ourselves and those around us.
To help college going students find a way to intersect career aspirations with their indigenous cultural traditions. Through this we hope that students will walk away from the program feeling invigorated and ready to create change.
