Video Presentation 2: Performance
Perform the following text.
I can feel their eyes, like darts pinned sharply on my back.
“Can you smell it? I bet that came from the rubbish bin!”
Great. Now I feel even more conscious about the tiffin in my hands. I grip it tightly, trying to hide it from plain sight.
“Eew! It smells like... Like sewage!”
I recognise that voice. John Lau. The tallest boy in class, maybe even all of Sec 1. Funny thing is, we used to be friends in primary school, and even shared my packed lunch once upon a time... What happened? I’ve no idea how he grew so tall, so mean, and so quickly. For a moment, I entertain the idea that perhaps he’s half-boy, half-...Ogre.
A smile almost erupts across my face. I bite my lower lip and take a deep breath in complete stillness. I don’t want him to think that his sewage comment is funny. Hey John, it’s not funny! Maybe I should say something snarky in retaliation, but all of my might vanished when I hear laughter from the class instead.
