(1) Creative Writing Portfolio
4 original creative writing works (excluding non-fiction, argumentative or expository pieces) completed within the last 12 months.
i. Personal creative writing produced outside of school and workshops/courses is highly encouraged.
ii. English Language compositions done in primary school are acceptable, up to a maximum of 1 piece.
iii. Works produced during writing courses/workshops or conducted by enrichment centres are acceptable, up to a maximum of 1 piece.
Works that cover a range of writing forms* and genres** are preferred.
Portfolio must comprise a maximum of 8 pages. Anything beyond 8 pages will NOT be assessed.
All works must be typed, 1.5 spaced, 12 pt, in Times New Roman font.
*Examples of writing forms include the short story, poetry, and the play.
**Genres refers to the sub-categories of the writing forms, e.g., realist, fantasy, science fiction, horror, mystery.
Each submitted piece should be clearly labelled with the following information:
i. Title of work and date completed.
ii. Source (e.g., personal creative writing, English Language Primary 6, Creative Writing Course conducted by XXX).
Combine all creative writing works into one document and name it this way: <Full name_Creative Writing Portfolio>.
Include page numbers on the bottom right of each page.
Document type: .pdf, .doc or .docx. Google Docs are NOT allowed.
(2) Titles of Works
Create a cover page and indicate the title of works in the same order sequence as how they are saved in your folder.
The cover page should have the following information:
i. Applicant's Full Name
ii. Completion Date (DD/MM/YY)
iii. Title of Work
iv. Source (personal creative writing, composition task for school/writing course etc).
(3) Personal Statement
In not more than 300 words, write about a book you would recommend to a friend who dislikes reading, and why.
Personal Statement must be typed, 1.5 spaced, 12 pt, in Times New Roman font.
Name it this way: <full name_personal statement>.
