Expand the Academic Progress tab and then select IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness). This statewide test is administered in the spring for students in 3rd-8th grade. This can provide a snapshot of the overall performance of the district in reading and math.
Search for information on how a specific grade level performed over time by selecting Grade & Demographics from the drop-down menu. Be sure that ELA (English Language Arts) is selected in blue.
We want to see student performance on the ELA assessment for 3rd graders over time, so we've selected all the years available and Grade 3. Once your selections are made, click on the Add Year button.
The data in light and dark green represent the number of students who met or exceeded state standards. The numbers are the percent of students within that category. In this example, 27.9% met and 1.2% of students exceeded expectations in 2022, for a total of 29% of students. This means less than 1 in 3 students in this district are currently meeting expectations on the IAR. In 2019, 40% of students met or exceeded standards.
If you are concerned with your district's performance on this assessment, you may want to consider sharing this information (and some action steps) with the Board of Education and district leadership using our Form Letter to Districts.
