Vision and Image Processing Lab

Welcome to Vision and Image Processing Lab (VIPL)!

At VIPL, we conduct fundamental and applied research on explainable deep learning for vision and image processing. We develop state-of-the-art techniques for various practical applications, including the enhancement, generation and restoration of 2D images and 3D data. Through this work, we aim to push the boundaries of what visual AI algorithms can perceive, reconstruct, and create.

Beyond technical performance, we are deeply committed to interpretability and trustworthiness. We believe that as AI algorithms become increasingly embedded in critical decision-making processes, it is essential to understand not only what these systems predict, but why. To this end, we seek to  build AI algorithms that bridge data-driven learning with human understanding.

Our research extends beyond algorithmic advancement to address the broader question of how AI can be made truly useful in the real world. We are dedicated to developing sustainable and scalable solutions that go beyond raw visual capabilities, with the goal of making AI more accessible, reliable, and impactful across everyday life and diverse industrial applications.

Our vision is clear: to make the invisible visible, and the complex simple.
