Professor Nevin Liddy - Sookmyung Women's University, MA TESOL - Fall 2025
Right now, there are no finalized materials on this website. Over the summer of 2025, I'll be (gradually) updating this website to give you a better idea of what we'll be doing in this course. At the time of this writing (Saturday, July 12th) this website is mostly just empty templates and placeholders, which I will (eventually) replace.
25 08 13 update Here is the one-page course summary from the OT session.
25 08 31 update As noted in my email, I have a few versions of the course designed, but I'm waiting to talk to you in week one (and for you to complete the week 1 survey) before I finalize the syllabus for the class. There are a number of ways to approach a computer-mediated communication course; I want to talk to you first.
Here is the week 01 survey (which will be discussed in our first class) - it is due before 10 pm on September 7th. But PLEASE finish it after our first Thursday class!
Name: Professor Nevin Liddy (Your choice: Either "Nevin" or "Professor Liddy" is acceptable.)
Office: Haengpa Faculty Building, Office 207 (행파207호)
Email: nevinliddy@sookmyung.ac.kr
Syllabus: This is where I will post our finalized syllabus, which will be published after our first week discussions and surveys.
Reading packet: Our main readings will be found here. This may be updated during the course. If so, I'll let you know ahead of time.
Here are some useful resources for our course.
Policies: Class policies for attendance, plagiarism, using AI, participation and other essential course information. This is required reading.
Citations: APA citation and reference models. The link to the left is one guide. You can search for others. Here is an APA guide from Purdue that I used frequently as a student.
The formatting differences indicate the type of source it comes from - become familiar with the different types of sources!
In our course, for example, you will frequently reference "chapters in and edited book/ebook" (our main textbook) and "journal articles"
If you don't already have one, get acquainted with a citation manager as soon as possible. I use Zotero personally, but there are several options with different features.
Sources: Sookmyung Library for finding published journal articles. Learn it, love it, visit often. Also, here is a very brief list of some journals/sources reference in this course.
