SHS Counseling Staff are available by email or by phone during school hours on most days. Please do not wait if you feel that you have an emergency or that someone, including you or your child, may be in danger of getting hurt, hurting themselves, or hurting someone else.
Instead, refer to the following information to get help:
If you have an emergency, please call or text 9-1-1.
If you have a psychiatric emergency, please call
Psychiatric Emergency Screening Services at (908) 526-4100.
If you are between 12 and 18 years old and need a counselor at any time, call or text the 2nd Floor Youth Helpline at 888-222-2228 or go to their website at www.2ndfloor.org.
If your family is in crisis as a result of any or all of the following: juvenile-family conflicts, a serious threat to the well-being and physical safety of a juvenile, runaway behavior, youth involved in human trafficking, or youth who are truant from school, call the Family Crisis Intervention Unit at 908-704-6330 during business hours or 908-526-4100 at any other time.
If you suspect that there is a possibility that a child is being abused or neglected, please call (877) NJ ABUSE. Remember, in NJ, EVERYONE is considered a mandatory reporter. #BRIDGETHEGAP
