4th Grade

In fourth grade, students will learn about meter, improvisation, composers, music notes and their values, syncopation, and how to read music. Not only will they review their knowledge on notes from the treble clef, but they will also begin learning notes from the bass clef as well. Having the ability to identify various time signatures and note values will help tremendously with their hand bell unit. This unit is the highlight of fourth grade where the students learn how to play the hand bells and hand chimes. This will not only help reinforce their music reading skills but also provide them the opportunity of following a conductor and being held responsible for their assigned musical note(s) which will provide them with musical independence.
