GENERAL SKI & SNOWBOARD CLUB DAY PROTOCOLS:
On Ski Club Day:
Equipment must be brought to school
Stored in the janitor closet
You will be able to get it out at the end of the day
Wait in the gym to be dismissed outside (like last season)
Buses:
ALL 8th graders will ride on Bus 1
6th and 7th graders will ride on Bus 2
We will load BUS 2 FIRST then Bus 1
You MUST remain in your seat at ALL times
Seats will be assigned to make attendance quicker
Keep your discussions at a reasonable volume
ALL SCHOOL RULES ARE IN EFFECT during the trip
On the Mountain:
SKI TO YOUR ABILITY
SKI WITH A BUDDY AT ALL TIMES
'Check-in' is in the lodge, and you MUST check in between 630 and 700 with the chaperone at our table
IF you are injured or your buddy needs help, contact Ski Patrol and a chaperone so we can assist
IF you are uncomfortable with making a run your buddy or friends want to go down, PLEASE decline and take a green instead. ALWAYS Be safe NOT sorry. If you need help getting down, go to a lift operator or Ski Patrol for help. They can contact us and we can get you down safely.
Remember the person in front of you ALWAYS has the right of way when skiing/riding
ONLY go off jumps/into park etc… if you have the ability to do so. Accidents happen. ALWAYS SKI/RIDE TO YOUR ABILITY.
End of the Night and Ride Home:
You must be on the bus READY TO ROLL at 9:00. This means last run is 8:00PM, meaning you are on the lift up at 800PM. Period. (Note: end of the night is when accidents and injuries happen most often. If you feel tired, 'call it a night' and get ready to leave instead of making one last run.)
Same rules apply for the bus home
When we reach Enfield, please alert your parents to be at MBA ready to pick up in 15 mins. Waiting for a ride in the dark and cold after a full night on the mountain can be very uncomfortable.
ON HALF-DAYS, Ski Club runs NORMAL TIME 2:30PM-10:30PM. Students may leave gear at school if needed, but must be ready to board the buses at 2:30PM in front of MBA to participate.
Have Fun!!!!!
Thanks for visiting the MBA Ski & Snowboard Club Page! The MBA Ski & Snowboard Club operates together with the High School Ski Club and go as one school community to Berkshire East Ski Resort in MA. This is a local mountain in the Berkshires with good trails and terrain that offer great opportunities to learn, develop and have fun during the Club. We will have 5 trips this year, all leaving on coach bus from MBA at 2:30PM. Students need to be picked up at MBA when the buses return. We anticipate returning between 10:15-10:30 and encourage parents to be parked and ready to pick up students when we arrive. Students will be able to rent equipment if needed and can arrange for lessons as well! We recommend students check the weather the night before and have appropriate layers to be outside in the cooling temperatures at night. Ski Club WILL MEET unless the resort is closed or school/after-school activities are canceled by the Superintendent. Cancellations will be posted HERE on this website and sent home via SPS Alerts. Please bring a bag-dinner or money to purchase food at the cafe at the mountain. Helmets are REQUIRED and can be rented if needed though its highly recommended they be fitted and purchased. If you need help or suggestions with purchasing a helmet, please email Mr. Serrell-Dube. Students can bring their own skies and snowboards to school to be stored in the janitor closet until the end of the day.
