Grading Policy
We follow a points based grading system. Each assignment or activity is allotted a point value.
Practice - homework, classwork, weekly My Path Lesson
Checkpoint - independent activity completed at the conclusion of each lesson within a unit
Assessment - independent activity completed in class at the conclusion of each unit
Performance Task - independent activity completed in class/homework at the conclusion of each unit
Assignments
Each week, students are responsible for passing one i-Ready My Path lesson and completing their log. Any additional assignments will be posted daily on the 6th Grade Homework Blog.
i-Ready My Path Lesson - due each Friday
5 points - Completed and passed on time
4 points - Completed, passed, and late (by Monday)
3 points - Completed but not passed
0 points - Not completed
Homework Policy
It is the 6th grade philosophy that students must practice skills independently to reinforce their learning. Therefore, if an assignment is one day late, it will lose points. Any assignment received two or more days late, will earn half credit. Materials that are not turned in will receive a grade of zero.
Absence
It is the student’s responsibility to get any notes, assignments, or handouts missed when absent. Please check the 6th Grade Homework Blog, PowerSchool, and Google Classroom. If a student misses a checkpoint or an assessment, the student must arrange a make-up time.
Curriculum
We follow the CSDE Model Curricula for Grade 6 Math.
Units/Topics of Study
Unit 6: Algebraic reasoning
Unit 7: Statistics and distributions
Please note, these course outlines are meant as guides. Teachers may need to make adjustments as they are continually assessing student learning which can result in skill reinforcement and/or extra time on concepts.
Extra Help
By appointment either during Learning Centers (Day 2) or an agreed upon time. Students should come prepared with 2-3 problems that are causing difficulty.
Homework Club is available in the media center several days per week and is a great place to catch up on any missing work. Students should check the schedule and make arrangements.
