Somers Public Schools has a limited supply of COVID-19 Test Kits . Per the Connecticut State Department of Education, these test kits have been distributed to the schools to be given to students and staff.

Antigen (rapid) and PCR tests are the most accurate tests when individuals are symptomatic. We recommend seeking one of these tests before requesting an at-home test from the school system.

Testing Protocols:

  1. These tests must be administered when symptomatic.

  2. Tests are meant only for the child or staff member that is symptomatic.

  3. Results must be reported back to the school nurse.

  4. A test cannot be administered by school staff as we do not have the proper Laboratory Certification to perform such tests.

Requesting a Test:

Please contact your building nurse to provide:

  • Your child's first and last name

  • Parent/guardian contact information

  • The school & grade level your child is enrolled in

  • The symptoms your child is experiencing

Sharing the Results:

Once you have administered the COVID-19 test, please share the results of the test with the Somers Public School District.

Please take a photo of the results along with the name of your child and email it to your building-based nurse and administrator.
